Sony Unveils Animalia Line of Tech Products Designed For Pets

Sony Unveils Animalia Line of Tech Products Designed For Pets

Consumer Electronics Apr 1,2013 0

Sony today announced the Animalia line of technology products specially designed and created for pets. The line-up includes Sony-branded products targeted at owners with dogs, cats and hamsters, with additional devices and networked services slated for release later this year. "Now that there are more households with pets than with children, we are targeting pet owners who want to provide unique entertainment experiences for their furry, four-legged family members," said Tom Barret, Lead Engineer for the Animalia line. "Sony is known for making products that enrich our lives, and the Animalia line was developed for domesticated animals who also naturally seek visual, music and emotional experiences."

The new Sony K9 4K TV features a crystal clear display that maximizes the use of blue and yellow tones without red and green tones in order to make it easier for dogs to view content in full 4K resolution.

The TV is designed to attach to most dog baskets and comes with an easy-to-use, paw-friendly remote control that features just two buttons ? one for "play" and another for "Skype" so that dogs can interact with their owners in real time.

The TV?s audio system also boasts a new Dog Enabled Frequency (DEF) with a special 54.2 channel surround sound which is tuned to dogs? levels of hearing so that they can hear what their owners are saying more clearly.

Tapping into a cat's natural behavior to tune out, the Sony M3-OW KittyCans headphones are now available to fit any feline. The adjustable headphones always seem like they're on even if they are not, thanks to ActiveLight technology, which enables cats to pretend that they are listening to music even when they are taking a break and don?t want to respond.

To help sensitive cats become accustomed to hearing human voices and other loud sounds, Sony is releasing a range of feline-focused playlists dubbed "Cat Cans" which owners can download from Music Unlimited. Designed to fit different levels of cats' natural curiosity, personalities and tastes, the playlists can be customized and include tracks such as 'What's new pussycat'' by Tom Jones and 'Black cat' by Janet Jackson.

To help motivate hamsters to make better use of the small space in their cages, and specifically their exercise wheels, Sony has introduced the "In-Cage Speakers" which gently pump energetic music into the cage environment. The capsule-sided speakers are designed to encourage hamsters to go harder and work off those extra sunflower seeds, with the tempo of the music adjusting and changing to their pace.

All products are available starting today at www.sony.com/animalia :)

Happy April's Fool day!
