Ubisoft Warns of Database Breach
Ubisoft said on Tuesday an account database was breached due to unauthorized access of one of its websites, revealing users' personal information including user names, email addresses and encrypted passwords.
"We recently discovered that one of our websites was exploited to gain illegal
access to some of our online systems. As a result we recommend that all Ubisoft
account holders change their passwords," Ubisoft said.
The company added that no personal payment information is stored with Ubisoft so users' credit/debit card information was safe from this intrusion.
"We instantly took steps to close off this access, to begin a thorough investigation with relevant authorities, internal and external security experts, and to start restoring the integrity of any compromised systems," the company said in an advisory on its forum.
