LG Innotec Develops 1mm Pulse Sensor For Wearables
LG Innotec has devveloped ultra-slim pulse sensor modules tha can be easily integrated to wearable devices such as Smart Bands or Smart Watches. The pulse sensor modules modualize PD (Photo Diode), LED (Light-Emitting Diode), and semiconductor chips into one and they are just 1mm thick.
The company used the 'Embedded PCB' technology, which stores semiconductor chips inside of PCB. The company used a method to minimize the amount of light loss inside the LED, reducing the power consumption by 20% compared to previous products.
These sensors are also highly accurate - LG Innotec says they have a margin of error of just 5bpm (heartbeat per minute) during a workout session. When heartbeat is measured with a users' heart in a stable condition, these sensors' margin of error is only 2bpm, which is the same level as medical devices.
LG Innotec is also developing a material that can be easily bent and easily attached to wearable devices.
