Snapdragon 865 SoC Said to Offer a 20 Percent Performance Boost

Snapdragon 865 SoC Said to Offer a 20 Percent Performance Boost

Smartphones Nov 12,2019 0

Qualcomm is expcetd to unveil the latest-gen Snapdragon chip at the upcoming annual Tech Summit next month, but leaksters claim to have the details already.

A Chinese leakster @Digital Chat Station claims that the Snapdragon 865 SoC is an octa-core chip will follow the 3 CPU design like the Snapdragon 855+. He says that the Snapdragon 865 features 1 x Cortex-A77 2.84Gz Gold Prime core, 2 x Cortez-A77 @ 2.42GHz Gold cores, and 4 x Cortex-A55 @ 1.8GHz low-powered Silver cores. An Adreno 650 chip will handle the graphics department, and the SD865 is also expected to come fitted with a 5G modem as well.

The leak further reveals that the Snapdragon 865 could be around 20% faster in CPU performance, and between 17-20% faster in GPU performance.

If these specs are to be believed, it seems that Qualcomm has maintained the same clock speed for the performance cores, but the jump from Cortex A76 to Cortex A77 makes the difference.
