ESS ships Vibratto II DVD chips, makes cheaper and better DVD players possible
ESS Technology announced that its newest, highly integrated front-end and back-end DVD processor, the Vibratto(TM)II, is now shipping in volume quantities to major OEMs in both China and Korea. The company expects that at least six different models of DVD players with Vibratto(TM)II inside will be shipped to retailers this month, with more models moving to volume production in the quarter ending September 30, 2003.
The Vibratto(TM)II product line incorporates the latest MPEG-2 video decoding technologies and DVD digital servo technologies to provide a complete front-end and back-end DVD solution on a single chip. This advanced system-on-a-chip DVD solution reduces product costs and increases processing power by integrating the front-end servo function and back-end MPEG decoder. The high-performance Vibratto(TM)II enables OEM manufacturers to offer feature-rich DVD players at more attractive price points.
The capabilities of the Vibratto(TM)II product line include high-quality progressive scan video output, Dolby(R) Surround audio decoding, Dolby-EX, DVD Audio, DTS-ES, S/PDIF input as well as CCIR656 output. With these features, the Vibratto(TM)II is also targeted as a cost effective solution for the high-end DVD machine such as DVD Receiver, HTiB (Home Theater in a Box) and Portable DVD. The Vibratto(TM)II supports DVD optical pickup heads from major suppliers and the most popular types of disc media, including CD, CD-R/RW, DVD-R/-RW, and DVD+R/+RW.
