Au Naturel DV plug-in released
Buena has released Au Naturel, a plug-in for compositing, blurring and correcting DV footage, compatible with After Effects, Final Cut Pro, Combustion and compatible hosts.
Buena claims that, because the plug-in allows you to work on your footage in a 32-bit per channel floating point linear RGB colour space, giving results more faithful to the original image. Values which fall outside the host applications colour space are preserved for subsequent compositing.
Au Naturel comes with six built-in effects. Adjust Exposure allows footage exposure to be adjusted in f-stops, rather than by using brightness and contrast control. Levels offers the ability to adjust levels without being limited by maximum or minimum pixel values.
Two blur effects Gaussian and Directional Blur are offered, and Buena claims that the effects are more realistic than host application, built-in effects. The blur effects can be applied to single channels or all channels, and users can choose how the blur edges are handled.
The Transform effect allows an image to be rotated, scaled, translated and skewed with sub-pixel accuracy. The company claims that sharper results are achieved by using high-quality resampling algorithms.
Finaly the Composite effect can composite scenes together in linear RGB using a separate alpha channel for each colour channel.
The plug-in is available now, priced at $79 (around £44) until August 12.
