Nvidia updates Nvidia Shield to v9.01

Nvidia updates Nvidia Shield to v9.01

Consumer Electronics Jul 5,2022 0

Nvidia recently introduced a new Shield software version up to v9.1 with new features, security updates, and bug fixes. The update is available for all Shield boxes (check updates from settings). Nvidia highlighted two new main features: Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) to let Shield automatically switch compatible TVs into 'Game' mode as well as Night listening mode to let you watch movies at night without disturbing your family. - "SHIELD TV now automatically switches your TV to low latency “game mode” when playing your favorite games. Whether gaming from the cloud with GeForce NOW or playing an Android game locally, your gaming experience will feel more responsive than ever," said Nvidia. - "Enjoy watching movies or playing games at night without disturbing your family. Night listening mode automatically levels both loud explosions and quiet dialog to deliver a consistent listening experience even if the volume is set low." The update also adds IMAX Enhanced support for Disney+, letting you stream Marvel movies in the expanded 1.90:1 aspect ratio. In addition, it adds "AI" upscaling support for 60Hz HDR10 video, improves remote and game controller customization, and lets users who own an entry-level or mid-range TV disable displaying of HDR and Dolby Vision content.

Nvidia said that six additional GeForce Now games can now be enjoyed in 4K resolution or 4K with HDR10. These are:
Dying Light 2 (4K)
Destiny 2: The Witch Queen (4K HDR10)
Rainbow Six Extraction (4K)
SIFU (4K)
Apex Legens: S13 (4K)
Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order (4K HDR10)

Nvidia Shield is still running Android 11. The Android security patch has been updated to the June 2022 level.
