Error Correction Tests

LiteON LTC48161H

In the following tests we examined the reading behavior of LiteOn LTC48161H, while reading the Almedio Abex 721R and 726 pressed discs.

- ABEX TCD-721R

Concerning the number ad severity of the reported errors, LiteOn LTC48161H had almost the same behavior as the Optorite DC4801. However, the LiteOn drive reported less muted samples. Some synchronization problems occurred. The performance is low and the average score is only 48.4 points out of 100. The C2 accuracy of the drive with respect to the Abex 721R test disc is only 50.4%.

- ABEX TCD-726

In most cases the ABEX TCD-726 test resulted to high overall quality scores. The drive read the disc accurately, and the average error level was low (-83.8 dB(A)). No skip errors were reported, and the quality score is high (90.4 points). The drive also retrieved the C2 information accurately.

- Conclusion

The average score for both tests is quite good (69.4 points). However, please have in mind that the drive showed two different faces in the tests. The performance with the scratched test disc was poor, mainly because of the reported skip errors. On the other had, less serious problems on the disc surface, such as the artificial fingerprints on the ABEX TCD-726 disc, were easily handled with great success.

- Nero CDSpeed tests

- ABEX 721R

The increased amount of sync errors did not allow CDSpeed software to give a high quality score. Of course, the C2 errors reported were more than in case of Optorite DC4801, since the C2 accuracy of the LiteOn drive is higher.
