ADS Technologies Announces PYRO 1394 DVD-R/RW and USB Instant Video

Optical Storage Apr 22,2001 0

ADS Technologies Demos FireWire Video DVD-R and USB Capture Device at NAB 2001 ADS Technologies Inc., a leader in 1394/FireWire and USB devices, today announced PYRO 1394 DVD-R/RW and USB Instant Video. Both will be demonstrated at NAB 2001 at the Sands Convention Center, Upper Level Booth T1025.

PYRO 1394 DVD-R/RW

The PYRO DVD-R/RW is the latest in DVD Recordable/Re-recordable drives. Featuring the third-generation DVD recorder from Pioneer, the PYRO 1394 DVD-R/RW utilizes the FireWire interface and enables users to publish their own DVD video projects. This will be offered at substantially lower cost than previous DVD-R solutions and breaks a significant price barrier for home users and small businesses interested in creating their own DVD videos.

Projects written with the bundled DVD authoring solution, Sonic Solutions' MyDVD, to DVD-R media can be played on most DVD set-top players and DVD-ROM drives. Available in late June; estimated MSRP will be just over $1,000.

USB Instant Video

USB Instant Video is an external video capture device that connects analog camcorders to computers so users can transfer their analog video and create their own home movies on the PC. With the USB interface, users can capture high quality video and stereo audio on a desktop or notebook computer or use their analog camcorders as live Web cams for videoconferencing over the Internet.

The software bundle includes: USB Instant Video with USB Cable, Audio Video connection cable, Ulead Video Studio 5 Basic SE, Video Producer by VideoShare (for publishing video to Web), Microsoft Net Meeting, Microsoft Media Encoder, Microsoft Media Player, Photo Island by ArcSoft. Available in May; estimated MSRP $70.
