Aleratec Forms Strategic Alliance with ITRI of Taiwan

Optical Storage Jun 26,2006 0

Aleratec, developer and manufacturer of USB, DVD/CD duplicating and recording solutions formed a strategic alliance with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) of Taiwan. ITRI is a non-profit R&D organization engaging in applied research and technical service to serve the technological needs of Taiwan's industrial development. Aleratec and ITRI have agreed to work together applying ITRI's optical storage technologies for High Definition applications to products and solutions for Aleratec marketing channels.

"ITRI has a proven and impressive technical development history and has been instrumental in transforming Taiwan into one of the world's top high technology industrial centers," stated Perry Solomon, President and CEO of Aleratec. "We are delighted to have this opportunity to partner with ITRI with their track record of successfully turning research achievements into commercial offerings and we are certain our efforts will result in some very exciting new HD products that will delight our Prosumer customers."

"We believe that Aleratec is a strong marketing partner and our agreement is key to bringing the benefits of our research to a much broader base of users and also reflects the commitment to future collaborations," stated Der-Ray Huang, Deputy General Director of EOL/ITRI.

ITRI's depth of technical expertise translates into a wide spectrum of business offerings. ITRI's proven track record of successfully turning research achievements into commercial offerings, demonstrates a degree of discipline, insight and innovation rarely seen among research institutions. ITRI's expertise covers the entire vertical chain of design, fabrication and packaging, from component to the system level.

ITRI helped Taiwan's optoelectronics industry establish infrastructures for producing optical disk drives, fax machines, flat-panel displays, printers, and LEDs. In particular, the CD/DVD industry provides an excellent example of rapid growth fueled by technology development introduced through or developed by ITRI.
