AMD A10-6790K And FM2+ Motherboards Coming Soon
AMD today disclosed that the A10-6790K APU along with the first FM2+ motherboards are coming very soon.
Compared with the existing A10-6800K, the new A10-6790K is clocked 100MHz lower (4.0 - 4.3GHz Tudbo). As the "K" letter denotes, the new A10-6790K is an unlocked Richland APU.
The A10-6790K packs AMD Radeon 8670D Graphics (844 MHz) and is meant to compete with Intel's Haswell mid-range Core i5-4670K. Intel should have a lead in graphics since the onboard Intel HD 4600 graphics on the 4670K are clocked at 1,200 MHz.
The A10-6790K will retail for about $130. Comparatively, the Intel Core i5-4670K has been on the market since June and it retails online for $220.
In addition, AMD said FM2+ motherboards have started to ship, with more likely to show up in the coming weeks. The new platform will support existing Trinity/Richland APUs as well as the upcoming Kaveri APUs, which are set for release before the end of this year.
