AOpen launches killer Cinema AV PC

AOpen launches killer Cinema AV PC

Consumer Electronics May 10,2005 0

AOpen, one of the largest IT products suppliers in the world, will introduce its Cinema AV barebone PC system at Taipei Computex 2005.

The Cinema AV barebone PC is a star performer of all PCs built with unique cinematic high definition audio and video features.

Except for operating as a powerful PC, the system can be used to watch TV, DVD movie titles, photographs, listen to FM radio, MP3 music or music files stored in the system?s hard drive, and play 5.1 channel high definition music.

Instant-on Start-up Software Although similar PCs may be designed with such functions, AOpen?s Cinema AV barebone PC is designed with a fast start-up software which allows a user to turn on the system as a music or DVD player or a TV instantly without going through the time-consuming Windows sign-on procedure. Furthermore, the power-on procedure can be conveniently activated with a remote control or the power button on a stylish vacuum fluorescent display (VFD). The consumer can listen to the music while waiting for the PC to activate Microsoft Windows operating system.

VFD ?The remote control, Instant-on Start-up Software, and the glossy VFD make the system a killer product at the Computex 2005,? says Richard Chen, product manager AOpen. The blue color VFD is better than conventional models because it has a larger display size of 11 cm by 2 cm (4.33 inches by 0.78 inches).

Home Theater In case a projector is connected to the video output and a large display screen is available, the system can turn a home into a home theater.

Thoughtful audio design

For those consumers who prefer to simplify rear panel connection, the system is thoughtfully designed with a built-in 2.1-channel speakers, including a pair of stereo speakers, and a subwoofer.

Excellent expandability The system is designed to offer high performance and expandability. The system has been tested to run Pentium 4 processors such as 571, which runs at 3.8 GHz with a 1 megabyte (MB) cache. The system supports socket 775 Pentium 4 CPUs such as 5xx and 3xx series processors, while conventional systems only support socket 478 processors such as Celeron.

?The Cinema AV barebone PC is a star performer of all PCs built with cinematic high definition audio and video features,? says Richard Chen, product manager AOpen.

To make it easy for future expansion, the system can provide space for two 5.25? external, two 3.5? external drive bays, and two 3.5? internal bays.

The system is designed to support one AGP 8X, three PCI expansion slots, four USB 2.0 ports on the rear panel, and 8-in-1 card reader ? features more powerful than similiar products.

The built-in software menu and the remote control make it easy for users to select TV, FM, DVD, music, photo mode either in Instant-on mode or Windows mode.

Unlike conventional systems whose power supplies are not upgradeable, the system can be equipped with standard 300W power supply and can be upgraded for heavy loading.
