Quality Scans

Although both drives support quality scans, neither of them worked with utilities such as DVDinfoPro or Nero. This was due to an incompatibility of these utilities and drive with our VIA chipset based motherboard, something which has been confirmed with other VIA chipset based motherboards in general.

However, when we installed the new VIA drivers (Hyperion 4in1), the situation was remedied.

AOpen quality scan

The trend lines for both PI Sum 8 and PIF with the AOpen drive, are similar to those of the SA300. However the values are very different.

Toshiba quality scan

The error levels, as they were reported by the Toshiba drive were totally different to those of the reference SA300.
