ASUS Announces DVD-R/RW Drive (DVR-104)

ASUS Announces DVD-R/RW Drive (DVR-104)

General Interest Jun 27,2002 0

ASUTek Computer today announced its latest optical storage drive – the ASUS DVR-104. Adopting DVD-R/RW (read as DVD “dash” R/RW), DVD formats recognized by the DVD Forum, the DVR-104 supports 2X DVD-Write/1X DVD-ReWrite/6X DVD-ROM/8X CD-Write/4X CD-ReWrite/24X CD-ROM. Furthermore, the drive can prevent buffer underrun problems, thereby eliminating the creation of CD and DVD coasters. Besides supporting 2X DVD-R write speed (roughly equivalent to 18X CD-R), the DVR-104 is capable of high-speed CD-R writing at 8X and CD-RW at 4X, as well as read speed up to 6X for DVD (single layer) and 24X for CD-R/RW discs and CD-audio extraction. DVD-R/RW media written by the DVR-104 is compatible with most of the existing DVD players and DVD-ROM drives, offering users a high degree of flexibility.

A user oriented design that includes a cooling fan and two disc clips allows the DVR-104 to deliver absolute stability and excellent readability. The cooling fan begins rotating as soon as the disc tray is loaded to prevent overheating the operating environment within the drive. Meanwhile, the two disc clips hold the edge of the discs to prevent disc fallouts due to vertical installation or unintentional tray-out.

The ASUS DVR-104 is a powerful solution for fast data storage that fully understands what multimedia enthusiasts desire. Whether it’s reproducing memory-intensive video sequences on DVD with optimal digital pictures quality or playing full-length films, the functionally versatile DVR-104 delivers smooth and efficient performance. Store life’s most memorable moments in DVD format and share them with friends or family anywhere.

The ASUS DVR-104 will be available for shipment by early-July 2002. For additional information about ASUS optical storage devices or other quality products, visit the company website at www.asus.com
