ASUS Announces New ZenBook and VivoBook Notebooks, Project Precog Future PC Concept and VivoWatch BP Healthcare Wearable at Computex 2018
ASUS Chairman Jonney Shih today hosted a press event at Computex 2018, unveiling all-new products, including ZenBook Pro 15 and ZenBook Pro 14 with the ScreenPad input device, the ZenBook S, a full lineup of VivoBook notebooks, and the VivoWatch BP wearable blood-pressure monitor.
The press event also included a special sneak peek at Project Precog, a new concept device and the first convertible dual-screen notebook equipped with artificial intelligence features.
New VivoBook models include VivoBook S15 (S530) and VivoBook S14 (S430), a pair of lightweight notebooks available in a choice of five colors and several textured finishes. Also announced was VivoBook S13, which features a 13-inch display in a compact 11-inch body and is the first ASUS notebook to feature a four-sided NanoEdge bezel, which enables an 89% screen-to-body ratio for a maximized viewing area. The VivoBook S15, S14 and S13 are exceptionally powered by 8th Generation Intel Core processors.
New ZenBook notebooks include ZenBook Pro 15 (UX580), ZenBook Pro 14 (UX480) and ZenBook S (UX391). ZenBook Pro 15 and ZenBook Pro 14 run Windows 10, are faster than ever and feature ScreenPad, a new way to interact with ZenBook that adapts to the user to provide control. ZenBook Pro 15 is a professional powerhouse with an up to 8th Generation Intel Core i9 processor, GeForce GTX 1050Ti GPU, 1TB PCIe x4 SSD, gigabit speeds with Intel Wireless-AC and Intel Thunderbolt 3 ports. ZenBook Pro 14 delivers performance with an up to 8th Generation Intel Core processor, GeForce GTX 1050 Max-Q gaming graphics, 1TB PCIe x4 SSD and storage accelerated by Intel Optane memory. ZenBook S is a 13.3-inch Windows 10 ultraportable notebook that delivers powerful performance and connectivity, and also meets military-grade MIL-STD-810G durability standards.
In addition to all-new notebooks, ASUS also revealed VivoWatch BP, a wearable blood-pressure monitor equipped with ASUS HealthAI technology that analyzes the wearer's blood pressure measurements and daily lifestyle habits to provide recommendations for controlling blood pressure.
With built-in ECG and PPG sensors, VivoWatch BP provides real-time blood pressure measurements in just 15 seconds. It features ASUS HealthAI technology to help users keep track of their blood pressure and health stats - such as heart rate, sleep quality, activity data, and de-stress index - while also providing suggestions for a better lifestyle. Built with medical-grade materials, VivoWatch BP is 70% smaller and 50% lighter than current wrist-mounted blood pressure monitors. In addition, it offers a 28-day battery life.
Project Precog
Artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning are changing the face of computing. ASUS demonstratied Project Precog, a concept of the first convertible, dual-screen notebook with fully enhanced AI features.
Project Precog implements a dual-screen form factor. With a 360° hinge joining the two displays, the PC can be used in four modes - Stand, Book, Tent, and Flat - while providing twice the screen space of traditional notebooks. This form factor gets rid of the traditional physical keyboard and touchpad setup, replacing it with the flexibility to work as either an extended screen or as a customizable interactive interface.
AI Touch automatically recognizes the active input device and changes the virtual interface accordingly. It can automatically adjust the keyboard location depending on where the user places their fingertips, or automatically switch to stylus mode when a stylus touches the lower screen.
With built in Window Cortana and Amazon Alexa, users can get more done with the power of their voice. The dual-screen design of Project Precog lets users keep their main tasks in full view while virtual assistants process other lower-priority tasks on the second screen. The enlarged screen real estate is also freat for apps processing large amounts of data and information, such as the AI-powered Microsoft Office 365. Project Precog supports the Intel Movidius Vision Processor Unit (VPU), and ASUS will encourage developers worldwide to create engaging AI-powered experiences.
VivoBook S15 (S530) and VivoBook S14 (S430)
VivoBook S15 (S530) and S14 (S430) are lightweight notebooks available in five color options - Firmament Green, Star Grey, Silver Blue, Gun Metal and Icicle Gold - and several textured finishes including a woven texture. VivoBook S15 and VivoBook S14 weigh only 1.8kg and 1.4kg respectively, and both notebooks are impressively thin at just 18mm. An ErgoLift hinge raises the keyboard to provide comfortable typing and also improves cooling for better system stability.
VivoBook S15 and S14 are the first notebooks in the VivoBook Series to feature the new three-sided NanoEdge design that has even narrower bezels along the top and sides of the display. This gives VivoBook S15 an 86% screen-to-body ratio, and VivoBook S14 an 84% screen-to-body ratio.
