Asus, ASRock Unveil New Motherborads For Intel's Braswel SoC

Taiwanese motherboard makers ASRock and Asus have both unveiled new microATX and mini ATX motherboards based on Intel's 14nm "Braswell" SoC. ASRock has released a total of seven models, as you see below. They are based on Pentium N3700 (4-core, 1.6 ~ 2.4GHz, Intel HD Graphics 16 EUs), the Celeron N3150 (4-core, 1.6 ~ 2.08GHz, Intel HD Graphics 12 EUs), the Celeron N3050 (4-core, 1.6 ~ 2.08GHz, Intel HD Graphics 12 EUs ), Celeron N3050 (2- core, 1.6 ~ 2.16GHz, Intel HD Graphics).

The three microATX models support normal DDR3 / DDR3L DIMM memory, while the Mini-ITX models support SO-DIMM.

Asus' solution is the N3150M-E microATX motherboard with a fanless heatsink. It is equipped with a Celeron N3150 processor (6W TDP), which features 4 cores, a base clock of 1.6GHz that bursts at 2.08GHz, and 2MB of L2 cache. Onboard graphics are via Intel?s Gen8, with 12 EUs having a boost frequency of 600 MHz.

There is a full PCIe 2.0 x16 slot, allowing for those internal arrangements of Atom plus discrete graphics or just for an additional PCIe card, such as a RAID card for a storage platform. By default the N3150M-E gives two SATA 6 Gbps ports, a COM header, a USB 2.0 header and a USB 3.0 header. There are also two USB 3.0 ports on the rear, along with a Realtek network port and Realtek ALC887 audio. Onboard video outputs are via a VGA and a HDMI connector, and we also get an LPT port.
