ATI Delivers 12 Pixel Shaders To Notebook PCs
ATI introduced the Mobility Radeon X1600 graphics processor for notebooks, featuring ATI's Avivo technology and support for Microsoft's Shader Model 3.0 and DirectX 9c.
Mobility Radeon X1600 also introduces PowerPlay 6.0 technology designed to minimize power while in battery mode. The chip has been manufactured with the TSMC's Nexsys 90nm fabrication process.
The X1600 is a mid-range graphics solution that is meant to perform at about the same level of the X800 GTO and the 6600 GT. It features 12 pixel shader processors and 5 vertex shader units, four texture units, 128 Max. threads and runs at 470 MHz. It smemory clock is set to 470 MHz.
The AVIVO technology supports 10bit video processing, MPEG-1/2/4, noise reduction features etc. The new GPU also supports Microsoft's next-generation operating system, Windows Vista, including Windows Vista Display Driver (WVDM).
Mobility Radeon X1600 will drive notebooks from OEM and ODM designers as Acer, Alienware, Arima, Asus, ECS, Evesham, FIC, Gericom, HP, LG, Medion, MiTAC, MSI, Packard Bell, Rockdirect, Samsung, Targa, and Uniwill.
ATI unveiled Mobility Radeon X1600 today at a product launch event in Taiwan. ASUS will be selling the part in their upcoming A7V notebook which is launching in Asia today.
