According to DigiTimes, BenQ recently lowered retail prices for its 16x DVD Dual DLburners from US$73-80 to US$64 in the Taiwan The price cut was to clear out stock of existing 16x DVD Dual DL burners in limited volumes available to pave the way for launching the new model DW1640 in the middle of this month, BenQ explained. The DW1640 will sell for NT$2,600-2,700 (US$83-86), BenQ indicated. The DW1640 has a DL writing (burning) speed of 8x, compared to the 4x from other local brands and 4x to 6x from international brands, BenQ pointed out.
