Bing Expands Social Search
Starting today, Bing will present an average of five times
more Facebook content in the page's social sidebar,
including status updates, shared links, comments and
photos from your friends.
Bing's deeper integration with Facebook could give
Microsoft's search engine an edge over rival Google.
Facebook has already a partnership with Microsoft's Bing
search, which will deliver additional results from the Web
when the recently announced 'Graph Search' feature
doesn't deliver clear answers to users' queries.
With every search that people do, Bing believes there is a person out there who can help you make a decision. "This is why Bing lets you tap into the wisdom of friends and experts in the social sidebar," Microsft says.
Say you?re thinking about making your first trip to Coachella and decide to research it online. When using Bing, you will find not only great search results about the festival, such as when it is and how to get there, but also pictures, posts, comments and more from your friends who attended the festival in the past. Now you know all there is to know about Coachella and which of your friends might have the inside scoop or, better yet, want to join you. Bing will also show you advice from experts across Twitter, Foursquare, Quora, Klout, Google+ and more to help you make the most of your trip.
In order to take advantage of Bing's new feature, you'll have to visit Bing and click on Connect with Facebook.
Bing lets you control what you share and respects your Facebook privacy settings.
