CES: Roku Announces Roku TV 4K Plans, New TV Models
Roku today announced its plans to support 4K Ultra HD streaming for future Roku TVs, including the Insignia and the Haier Roku TV models. The company has prepared a Roku TV reference design for 4K smart TVs for license to TV OEM partners. Global TV manufacturer TCL, which released the TCL Roku TV models last year, is an initial partner to build 4K models. In addition, Roku is working with Netflix to provide 4K content for streaming on the Roku platform.
Roku also said that Beginning this spring, Insignia Roku TV models will be available for purchase exclusively at Best Buy stores and at BestBuy.com. Roku TV is a new generation of smart TVs built by TV manufacturers using the Roku TV reference design and the Roku operating system (Roku OS).
In addition, new Haier Roku TV models will be available for consumers to purchase in Q3 2015. The Haier Roku TV models combine Haiers picture quality and slim bezel designs with the Roku streaming experience.
The Haier Roku TV 4 Series Smart LED TVs will be available in sizes ranging from 32-inches to 65-inches. The 40-inch to 65-inch models will come with Full HD resolution and a Sound Chamber.
In addition, the new 3.5 Series Smart LED models will feature
55-inch, 48-inch, and 40-inch Full HD resolution with piano black cabinet, Direct LED HDTV, Sound Chamber hidden speakers and a Roku Streaming Stick (Roku Ready version) bundled with the TVs.
