Crucial P310 1TB NVME SSD
3. Conclusion
Crucial has a long experience in producing NVME products and the latest P310 promises high performance, low price, and overall stability, maxing out the PCIe Gen4 slot. The product comes in only black color and we tested the 1TB version, which has a strong attractive retail price of $79.99, at least at the time that this article was published. The drive uses a Phison chipset, without any build-in memory, instead, it uses the host memory to buffer up writing.
Passing to the performance, the drive manages to deliver the promised specifications of 7.1GB/sec reading and around 6.2GB writing according to the specifications. That is good news since the 1TB model, does have a low retail price, and with such a low price you can get high performance. The working temperatures with passive heatsink, were OK, under constant load we saw up to 78 Celsius, far away from the 86 Celsius thermal throttle point. Another plus for the product. What we don't like is the low SSD Endurance TBW of 220TB, whereas more expensive models have at least 600TB. Of course, the drive comes with a 5-year warrant from a trusted brand like Crucial. Overall we feel the P310 can be used by entry-level users who wish good performance at retail price for normal-everyday-use.
