The Crucial X9 Pro 2TB can be bought directly from Crucial at a reduced price (at this time of writing) of $129.99 from the default $159.99 price. Compared with the Crucial X10 Pro 2TB, you save around $40 for the same capacity with "half" read/write speeds. Crucial also offers a one-month free subscription for Adobe Creative Cloud personal service with units purchased between July 25, 2023, and December 31, 2024.

The retail package is small and well-designed and includes all the needed information for users. The device has a 5 years warranty from the original date of purchase by an authorized seller, or before writing the maximum total bytes written (TBW) as published in the product datasheet and as measured in the product’s SMART data, whichever comes first. Note that currently Crucial as the official specifications haven't stated, yet, the product's TBW.

Opening the package unveils its contents, not much is here, just the drive, a printed manual, and a USB Type-C to Type-C cable that has a 24cm length and its specially designed to get the maximum possible reading/writing speeds when using the X9 Pro with a Type C Gen3.2 port. The device is included inside a small plastic case with a QR Code for further information.

The device itself is very small and minimal. At the top you will find the Crucial/Micron logos, it has 65mm (L) X 50mm (W) X 9.8mm (H) dimensions and weighs 38gr (!) making it portable. The device is also IP55 water/dust proof, meaning that this device has been tested against dust and water for up to 55 minutes at a pressure of one atmosphere (or about 10 centimeters of air). Simply put, a device that is IP55 certified can be exposed to water from any angle – including rain or even a light shower. Devices that are IP55 certified should not be completely submerged in water. The device also can stand up to 7.5 ft/2 m without impact data on a carpeted floor. The build material is an anodized aluminum at the top with a silver colour, and a rubberized soft touch at the back, which looks very classy and feels just right at your hand.

At the back you will find more information, with needed logos for certifications and of course the capacity of the drive and serial number as well. At the top left corner, you will find the lanyard hook for carrying it with your keys that also includes a mini LED (white color) to check out that the device works.

The included Type-C to Type-C cable has been tested to work best with this drive and if you want optimal performance you must use it. Crucial also plans to offer a Type C to Type A adapter, in case you need it. The device also supports hardware 256 AES HW + PP security protocols and according to Crucial, you should expect in September 2023 a build of a special “Crucial Portable SSD Utility” which will enable consumers to lock and unlock the data on their Crucial X9 Pro drive with a password. The software will support both Windows/MAC operating systems. Note that the Crucial X9 Pro works with Bitlocker To Go on Windows and FileVault on macOS.
