Documents to Go for BlackBerry Delayed

Documents to Go for BlackBerry Delayed

Smartphones Dec 17,2007 0

Last spring, DataViz announced that it is bringing its Microsoft Office editing suite to BlackBerry smartphones. At that time, the company expected to have this application ready before the end of this year, but it now says it will not meet this deadline. DataViz has recently updated its timetable to say that Documents To Go for BlackBerry will be released to the public some time during the first quarter of 2008.

A statement on the company's web site says, "This product is currently in full development and DataViz is committed to providing a high quality solution which meets the expectations of the BlackBerry community."

More About Docs To Go

Documents To Go for BlackBerry will let users access, view, edit, and create Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint files in their native formats on their devices.

In addition, this application will include DataViz's InTact Technology, which lets users retain complex file formatting when receiving, editing and sending files to and from a BlackBerry smartphone.

Non-BlackBerry users are probably already familiar with Documents To Go. A Palm OS version was first released in in 1999, and DataViz has since introduced ones for Symbian UIQ, Nokia's S80, and Windows Mobile Smartphone.
