Elgato Brings 4K60 Game Capture to the Masses

Elgato Brings 4K60 Game Capture to the Masses

Consumer Electronics Jul 22,2025 0

Elgato, a global leader in creator technology and a subsidiary of CORSAIR® (NASDAQ: CRSR), today unveiled Game Capture 4K S, an external capture solution purpose-built to bring class-leading gameplay sharing capabilities to the masses. The successor to Elgato’s bestselling capture card HD60 X, 4K S continues the company’s legacy of enabling creators to turn their gameplay into high-quality content for Twitch, YouTube, TikTok, or any platform they prefer.

Performance that pushes boundaries
With cinematic 4K60 capture, zero-latency passthrough, and near-zero software preview delay, 4K S delivers the real-time performance today’s gamers demand. Even high-intensity titles play without lag on a dedicated gaming display, while in-app capture previews respond with as little as 30 milliseconds of latency on capable setups, which is smooth enough for most single-screen workflows.

Next-gen ready by design
Keeping pace with the latest consoles, including those from Sony and Microsoft, 4K S supports capture from Nintendo’s new Switch 2 console, giving players a premium plug-and-play path to recording or streaming cinematic 4K60 gameplay while the handheld is docked. 4K S also continues Elgato’s commitment to iPadOS compatibility, enabling creators to capture directly to iPad models with a USB-C port.

From high fidelity to high frame rates
For gamers drawn to cinematic storytelling, exploring open worlds and incredibly detailed scenes, 4K S captures every pixel in stunning 4K60 quality, preserving frames and textures with impeccable clarity. For those who demand the competitive speed and precision needed for titles like Valorant or Call of Duty, 4K S also supports high frame rate capture formats like 1440p120 and 1080p240. This lets gamers play at peak visual fidelity while capturing without loss in detail or performance. Zero-latency passthrough keeps gameplay instantly responsive on their main display, while a near real-time preview is fast enough for most to play through, which is ideal for setups where a second screen isn’t an option.

Pro specs in a compact form factor
Despite its slim footprint, 4K S sports pro-level capabilities such as HDR10 passthrough up to 4K60, with HDR10 capture supported up to 1080p60 on Windows, VRR support for ultra-smooth gameplay, and analog audio input for native team chat. Thanks to a USB-C connection, it works seamlessly across Windows 11, macOS 13, and iPadOS 18, with no drivers needed. UVC compliance ensures compatibility with OBS Studio, Streamlabs, Zoom, TikTok Live Studio, and other major broadcast apps.

All-new capture software
Launching alongside 4K S is Elgato Studio, the company’s brand-new capture application slated to replace 4KCU in coming months. Designed to simplify the recording process, the app detects 4K S instantly and offers ultra-low preview latency, minimal system load during recording, and essential features like a snapshot tool to capture memorable moments for social media or video thumbnails. Creators can adjust 4K S settings and experiment with beta features directly in the software, whether they’re just starting out or producing content at scale.

More than a decade of creator firsts
“When we built the first capture card specifically for gamers back in 2012, we didn’t just launch a product, we propelled a movement,” said Julian Fest, General Manager at Elgato. “From YouTube Let’s Play videos to Twitch streams and esports broadcasts, Elgato has empowered the creator revolution from day one. Now, with 4K S, we’re setting the new standard for game capture—one that’s more accessible, more dialed in, and more powerful than ever.”

4K S reinforces Elgato’s commitment to creators with a solution that prioritizes performance, reliability, and real-world workflows. In a market crowded by flashy gimmicks, the company continues to focus on what matters most, empowering creators with powerful tools they can trust.

Availability, Warranty and Pricing
Elgato Game Capture 4K S is available now for 159.99 USD on the Elgato webstore. It is backed by a two-year warranty alongside the CORSAIR worldwide customer service and technical support network.
