Cable-Free Technology
The GameMax GX-1050 PRO WH/BK power supply unit is built using advanced manufacturing technologies. The Cable-Free Technology uses SMT manufacturing process that installs components directly to the PCB without the need of soldering and copper wires.
The GameMax GX-1050 PRO WH/BK PSUs are equipped with a 135mm Silent FBD Turbo Axial Fan that delivers more airflow and cooling at lower noise levels compared to traditional fan designs. The Fluid Dynamic Bearing runs silent and offers longer lifespan. The PSU features intelligent temperature control allowing it to run silently at low loads.
- The Package
The GameMax GX-1050Pro Power Supply can be found online at ~$160 (minus a $20 coupon), at least at the time of writing this article. The retail package is big, heavy, and has a very interesting artistic design.
Everything is well packaged, no problems during transportation.
The included goodies include apart from the cables, a power cable, screwdriver, and a glove to handle with care your new power supply.
There are many cables included in the retail box, in separate cases, and this power supply is fully modular so you can use whatever you need/want and leave the rest in the retail box to make some room in the PC case.
Below you can find everything that is included in the retail package of the GX-1050Pro and their lengths. We can say that GameMax has a very good design for their products and all cables are flat and useable even in those big PC cases.
Main Power Connector (20+4) Pin x1 | 650mm |
CPU (4+4) Pin x2 | 700mm |
PCI-E (6+2) Pin x3 | 550mm |
PCI-E (12V-16pin) x1 | 650mm |
SATA x4 x3 | 500mm + 150mm each peripheral |
PATA x3 + 4 Pin Peripheral x1 | 400mm + 150mm each peripheral |
The PSU has the typical ATX power supply dimensions (150×140×86mm (W x L x H)), meaning it will fit in most cases. The product is rated as 80Plus Platinum. The GX-1050 Pro comes equipped with a 135mm Silent FDB Turbo Axial Cooling Fan with Intelligent Temperature Control, that will adjust its speed based on the cooling needs of the PSU and has all the needed protective features, like, including Overpower Protection (OPP), Over Voltage Protection (OVP), Short Circuit Protection (SCP), Over Temperature Protection (OTP), Over Current Protection (OCP), Under Voltage Protection (UVP), No Load Operation (NLO) and Surge and Inrush Protection (SIP).
The power supply has a matte black finish like most of the tested power supplies we have recently seen at our labs. All the edges are not sharp, so you can handle it without any worries.
The rear has a honeycomb design, that helps lower the PSU's internal temperature since drives the produced hot air out of the case.
At the back, we can find the power ratings of the product. The power supply has one big +12V rail that can boost up to 87.5A and produces 1050 watts output. The +5V boosts 20A, while the +3.3V rail 20A. Lastly, the +5VSB gives another 2.5A.
The connector ports are many to cover most of our needs and the "new" v3.1 Intel ATX protocol suggests a slightly modified 12V-2x6 port that has the Deepcool color. The included 12V-2x6 cable is rated at 105°C-resistant 16AWG copper-core and it can boost up to 600W for the NVIDIA 4080/4090 series.
At the inside of the power supply, we will find 105°C Japanese Main Capacitors, which is always a good thing and improves overall efficiency.
