Google Releases New Stable Chrome For Windows, Linux and Mac

Google Releases New Stable Chrome For Windows, Linux and Mac

Enterprise & IT May 26,2010 0

Google today introduced introduce a new stable version of Chrome for Windows, Mac and Linux. Since last December, the company has been chipping away at bugs and building in new features to get the Mac and Linux versions caught up with the Windows version.

The performance bar for all three versions keeps getting higher: Google claims that today?s new stable release for Windows, Mac and Linux is the fastest yet, incorporating one of the most significant speed improvements to date. Chrome has been improved by 213 percent and 305 percent in Javascript performance by the V8 and SunSpider benchmarks since the very first beta released in September 2008.

Today?s new stable release comes with a few new features, including the ability to synchronize browser preferences across computers but also browser preferences -- including themes, homepage and startup settings, web content settings, preferred languages, and even page zoom settings. Meanwhile, for avid extensions users, you can enable each extension to work in incognito mode through the extensions manager. The stable release also incorporates HTML5 features such as Geolocation APIs, App Cache, web sockets, and file drag-and-drop. Google has also given Chrome?s bookmark manager a facelift with HTML5:

Google has been also beta-testing Adobe Flash Player integration into Chrome. While Flash Player integration in the browser is not included by default in today?s stable release, the feature will be enabled with the full release of Flash Player (version 10.1) soon.

The new Chrome browser can be downloaded at google.com/chrome.
