ICOA Acquisition by Google Is A Hoax
Wireless broadband provider ICOA said that a press release that appeared online earlier today about an acquisition of ICOA by Google was false.
The press release appeared online by PRWeb and claimed that ICOA, a broadband wireless Internet network provider, was acquired by search giant Google for about $400 million.
ICOA has never had any discussions with potential buyers, CEO George Strouthopoulos said.
"Someone, I guess a stock promoter with a dubious interest, is disseminating wrong, false and misleading info in the PR circles. ICOA will report this to the proper authorities," Strouthopoulos said.
The specific press release was quickly picked up by many web sites - including the Associated Press and CDRinfo.com- and is currently circulating online. We apologize for contributing to the spread of false information.
