Intel is currently offering many small NUC computers using its Skylake CPUs, but palso plans to release a high-performing MUC codenamed "Skull Canyon." Intel has not disclosed availability of pricing details of the eagerly expected new NUC, which is also expected to be larger due to the hotter quad-core Skylake chip, which also packs a Skylake Iris Pro GPU inside.

For even more graphics horsepower, Intel could also offer an
external GPU for the new NUC, taking advantage of the Thunderbolt 3 and the USB-C ports. The company has not confirmed the plan, but it makes sense as Razer has already done this its Core.

The updated Skylake NUC barebones will pack 802.11ac, dual-core chips, and support DDR4 RAM. The other changes include SD card readers and a full-size HDMI 1.4 port instead of the mini HDMI currently used, as well as DisplayPort 1.2.
