LG Display To Produce Foldable Displays For Smartphones: report
LG Display (LGD) has reportedly started mass-producing foldable displays for future smartphones, as both Apple and Samsung are rumored to support the concept in the near future.
ETnews.com reports that LG Display will supply its foldable display products to "a global business in the U.S" and is set to to invest into new manufacturing facilities. The Korean publication cites unnamed industry sources to report that LGD's first customer will be a global software business.
LG Display has developed plastic board material along with touch-panel material and others that can maintain their performances even they are folded and unfolded more than 100,000 times.
Samsung has also expected to release foldable smartphones in January of 2016.
