Microsoft today confirmed the acquisition of Acompli, a provider of mobile email apps for iOS and Android. This acquisition is part of Microsoft's effort to help people accomplish more with their mobile devices. This year the company brought Office to the iPad and the iPhone, and recently announced that it is bringing Office to Android devices.

Acompli's app provides innovative ways to focus on what’s important in your inbox, to schedule meetings, and work with attachments and files. It connects to all email services and provides a single place to manage email with a focus on getting things done.

Microsoft plans to pair the Acompli development team with the team for its own Outlook e-mail client.

Acompli CEO Javier Soltero said that users' apps and accounts will continue to work and that the company will be adding new functionality every couple of weeks.
