New Fusion-io Atomic Series Promises High Performance and Optimized Efficiency

New Fusion-io Atomic Series Promises High Performance and Optimized Efficiency

PC components Jun 5,2014 0

Fusion-io today announced Atomic Series, the newest flash memory platform for appliance and server environments. The Atomic Series is based on the third generation Fusion-io memory-based architecture and promises to deliver much higher performance than typical SSDs in a fraction of the space.

These new products have large capacities of up to 6.4TB in a single device, versus 3.2TB on the previous generation.

In adition, Fusion-io has worked with vendors of database, virtualization, big-data and virtual desktop software to make the new ioMemory products further accelerate those applications.

The new ioMemory cards bring data directly into servers through high-speed PCIe connections to the motherboard. The company's engineers have designed those cards to act like memory, not storage. Their flash controller and software, developed in house, handle the solid-state media in ways that reduce latency and help accelerate applications.

Fuson-io offers its customers two choices, at least for now: the ioMemory PX600 and the ioMemory SX600. Both PX and SX models are based on MLC (Multi Level Cell) NAND, feature PCI-Express 2.0 x8 interfaces and are backed by 3 and 5 years of warranty, respectively.

They are available now, with prices set by Fusion-io's resellers and server partners, including Cisco, Dell, Hewlett-Packard, IBM and SuperMicro.
