New Intel Development Suites Help Improve Application Performance on the Latest Processors
Intel today announced two new development suites: Intel
Parallel Studio XE 2013 and Intel Cluster Studio XE 2013.
These integrated suites help developers create applications through optimized
compilers, libraries and analysis tools. Improvements
include support for next-generation processors including
Intel Xeon Phi coprocessors, as well as support for Java,
C++ and Fortran.
New features in these products include:
(1) Support for newer processors and coprocessors includes tuned support for Ivy Bridge microarchitecture, support for Haswell microarchitecture (first products in 2013) and support for the Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessor (over 50 cores, in production in 2012, code name Knights Corner, uses MIC architecture). Support in the tools for the Intel Many Integrated Core (MIC) Architecture used by Intel Xeon Phi Coprocessors comes naturally as part of the compilers, libraries, debug and performance analysis tools. The tools Haswell microarchitecture support includes intrinsics for TSX.
(2) Expanded support for the latest standards including MPI 2.2, C++ 11 and Fortran 2008.
(3) New functionality including conditional numeric reproducibility, pointer checking capabilities, sleep state analysis (for power) and memory heap growth analysis.
These tools provide both access to performance through simple recompiles and simple relinks with Intel libraries, as well as provide a large number of "deep dive" capabilities for programmers looking for deep involvement such as tracking down the sources of TLB misses, data races or advice on parallelization approaches. Intel offers a broad range of options to access performance for C, C++ and Fortran programmers.
These software development products are suites of tools for C, C++ and Fortran developers to help push to higher performance. This include compilers, libraries, parallel programming models, design assistance, debugging and performance analysis tools. Intel Parallel Studio XE 2013 focuses on supporting shared memory machines associated with standard data center systems, workstations and PCs. Intel Cluster Studio XE 2013 contains the tools in Intel Parallel Studio XE 2013 plus specific capabilities for distributed memory machines such as machines found in clusters and supercomputers using programming dependent on MPI (Message Passing Interface).
The update for Parallel Studio XE 2013 is free if your support is current (within a year of initial purchase or the purchase of the appropriate support package).
