Nintendo Confirms Wii Mini, Coming December 7

Nintendo Confirms Wii Mini, Coming December 7

Gaming Nov 27,2012 0

Nintendo's Wii console is getting a new look and a new price. The Wii Mini coming exclusively in Canada, in December, priced at $100. The new machine is not exactly what we expected for - a rival to Apple TV or the Ouya console. It cannot connect to the internet and is not compatible with GameCube games, as it is has been designed exclusively to play Wii games.

On Dec. 7, the new Wii Mini home console launches in Canada at a suggested retail price of just $99.99 and puts the focus on Wii games. Wii Mini is smaller than the original Wii system, and comes in matte black with a red border. It comes with a red Wii Remote Plus, a red Nunchuk controller and works with most Wii accessories.

The Wii Remote Plus controller responds to motion and rotation for enhanced control as you swing, swipe, thrust, or turn the controller. In addition, you can hook the Nunchuk accessory up to your Wii Remote Plus for even more flexibility in compatible games. The Nunchuk has similar motion-sensing technology, along with two buttons and a Control Stick. This allows you to move characters around while performing more specific and complex actions with the Wii Remote Plus controller.

A range of other accessories will be also available, including the Wii Balance Board, the Wii Wheel and the Classic Controller Pro.

Nintendo says the system can play more than 1,400 disc-based Wii games. Wii games are available at a variety of price points ($20~60)

Wii Mini is available exclusively in Canada during the holiday season. No information is available about its potential availability in other territories in the future.
