Nvidia Tegra 4 Specs Leak Prior To CES

Nvidia Tegra 4 Specs Leak Prior To CES

PC components Dec 18,2012 0

Specifications of Nvidia's upcoming next-generation "Wayne" Tegra processor for smartphones and tablets have leaked online. Chinese web site Chiphell published a slide of the basic specifications of Wayne, which will reportedly feature Tegra 3's 4-plus-1 setup, with four cores and a low-power companion core to save battery life. As the CPU's codename indicates, the "4-PLUS-1 Quad Core Eagle" will most likely be an ARM Cortex-A15, as "Eagle" was ARM's codename for its A15 architecture architecture.

Acording to the leaked picture, the 28nm HPL Tegra 4 will have a 72-core GPU, which is 6x more than Tegra 3.

The slide also shows USB 3.0 abd DDR3L/LPDDR2/LPDDR3 support, 4K video playback, and support for resolutions up to 2,560 x 1440.

Nvidia is expected to release official details about its Tegra "Wayne" and "Grey" SoCs at the consumer electronics trade-show (CES) in early 2013. Actual products are on schedule by Mobile World Congress in February.

The Tegra "Grey" SoC will also feature built-in 3G and 4G/LTE communication technologies.
