Pioneer and Treasure Data Form Business Alliance to Develop Big Data-Driven Services for the utomotive Industry

Pioneer and Treasure Data collaborate to enable new automotive industry services based on telematics data. The business alliance will help the companies develop services for the automobile industry, leveraging big data generated by telematics, such as data from vehicle electronics sensors.

Treasure Data has a global experience in managed cloud services for collecting, storing and analyzing massive volumes of sensor data, logs and other big data.

Using the Treasure Data Cloud Service, Pioneer will release new data and analytics-based services for automobile manufacturers and related busines ses, including dealers, repair shops, insurance and rental car companies.

Pioneer has been an early leader in data-driven development. It released "Smart Loop" in 2006, one of the first navigation services based on automotive telematics and big data analytics. In 2013, Pioneer started its Mobile Telematics Center, a cloud infrastructure for automobiles, which provides cloud-based navigation services, as well as advanced traffic up dates, by analyzing an enormous amount of information collected through
car electronics and smart phones.

In related news, Pioneer responded to press reports about a possible sale of its succesfull DJ business.

"Pioneer Corporation has not made any announcement concerning sale of its DJ equipment business, which some media reported today. Pioneer is currently considering every possible measure with respect to review of its business portfolio, including sale of DJ equipment business. However, no decisions have been made. We have no other comments on this matter. "
