For our Blu-Ray reading tests, we used a variety of media, either burned or pressed Test Discs to measure the drive's performance.

According to the official specifications, the Pioneer BDR-S13U-X can read BD-ROM at 12x, BD-ROM DL at 8x, BD-ROM TL at 4x, BD-R at 12x, BD-R DL at 8x, BD-R TL/QL at 6x, BD-R(LTH) at 8x, BD-RE at 10x, BD-RE DL at 6x, BD-RE TL at 4x, M-DISC(BD) SL at 12x, M-DISC(BD) DL at 8x and M-DISC(BD) TL at 6x.

Blu-Ray Single Layer

Blu-Ray Movie 25GB

The drive reads in CAV the disc, starts from 4.60X and ends at 12.42X, producing an average of 8.25X.

 

Blu-Ray Movie 25GB Ripping

The latest MakeMKV version supports fully the drive to backup BD-Movies to your HDD with full reading speed.

We saw up to 5.9X ripping speeds that concluded a 21.43mins for a full disc rip.

 

BD-R 25GB

The drive started at 2.53X and finishes reading at 5.97X producing an average of 4.26X.

 

BD-RΕ 25GB

The drive started at 2.50X and finishes reading at 5.41X producing an average of 4.24X.

 

Dual Layer Blu-Ray Media

Movie 50GB

According to the official specifications, the reading speed for Dual Layer discs is up to 6X, which more or less confirmed from our tests.

Triple Layer Media

Ultra 4K Blu-Ray 100GB Movie

Triple layer discs are read to 4X CLV, which was confirmed from our tests as well.

 

BD-R 100GB

 

Quad Layer Media

BD-R 128GB

Quad layer discs are also read with 4X CLV reading speed.
