Report Cites Google, Salesforce Interest For Twitter
The latest batch of takeover rumors for Twitter include the interest of several technology companies, including Google, Salesforce.com and Verizon. CNBC reported that Twitter has received inbound interest in a takeover from Google and Salesforce.com , and that Twitter's board is "largely desirous of a deal."
TechCrunch also reported that Verizon has also expressed interest in acquiring Twitter, even as it prepares to buy Yahoo.
Twitter has been trying to reignite user growth and wring more value out of its current community.
A recent deal with the NFL brought live football games to Twitter’s platform, but it may do little to reverse Twitter’s user trends or slowing revenue growth.
If Google sees the real-time search capabilities of Twitter as a strategic fit, an offer could make sense.
