Ricoh announced it snew DVD+RW media for 8x recording. Availability is planned for June.
The new High-Speed DVD+RW media meets all the requirements of the new High Speed DVD+RW standard set in December 2004. Based on an exclusive coating technology newly developed by Ricoh, the DVD+RW 8x is produced with high-precision tools. Thanks to the high-speed recording process, the new medium allows data volumes of up to 4.7 Gigabyte to be written and rewritten in only around nine minutes.
Ricoh's media ID ensures compatibility with the current and upcoming hardware and is expected to be wider as hardware integrators support the discs through firmware upgrade releases.
