LG Electronics and Samsung Electro-Mechanics are planning to join forces to work on next generation optical storage products. Under the proposed deal, Samsung will supply optical pickup devices, used in CD-ROMs, CD-RWs and DVD-ROMS, to LG Electronics according to a report by the Korean Industry Update. LG will buy $2.3 million worth of products. In addition, the two companies will work together on research and development projects.
