Samsung, LG Electronics to Work Together
LG Electronics and Samsung Electro-Mechanics are planning to join forces to work on next generation optical storage products. Under the proposed deal, Samsung will supply optical pickup devices, used in CD-ROMs, CD-RWs and DVD-ROMS, to LG Electronics according to a report by the Korean Industry Update. LG will buy $2.3 million worth of products. In addition, the two companies will work together on research and development projects. It is said to be the first time the two have worked together on such an extensive prorange of projects.
