Samsung selects Texas Instruments imaging processor for cameraphone
Texas Instruments Incorporated (TI) announced that Samsung Electronics has selected TI imaging processor technology for the worlds first cameraphone with a hard disk drive.
Inclusion of the hard drive enables users to store images and video on the cameraphone. Samsung has also selected TI imaging processor technology for three additional cameraphones.
Samsung has chosen TIs OMAP-DM270 processor, an extension of TIs widely adopted OMAP processor portfolio, to power its new cameraphone model. The cameraphone with hard disk drive includes a video-on-demand feature.
TIs OMAP platform supports leading mobile-entertainment applications, such as cameraphones, video recording, and 3D games. Built-in camera and camcorder functionality on handsets are becoming key application requirements by consumers for today's mobile phones, commented Terry Cheng, President, TI Asia.
These new Samsung cameraphones are available to consumers today in Korea.
