Samsung Shows off Foldable Concept Phone
Samsung this week revealed a concept smartphone that can fold out into larger device and its reflective display changes colors.
Samsung president Young Sohn on Tuesday showed the concept video you can see below at MobileBeat 2013:
Besides its expandable design, the concept phone features a reflective display can change its color through the use of embedded photonic crystals, according to the video. The color of the display represents different modes the phone can be in.
The video also shows a concept where the phone receives vital health signs of its user through an RFID chip found on a wearable patch. An "electromagnetic wave generator and detector are integrated in the patch sensor," the video says.
The use of RFID wearable sensors is expected to be incresed in the near future, as the chips become part of clothing, glasses and other accessories.
