Sipex introduces new photo detector IC for mobile DVD writers
Sipex, a U.S provider of high performance, analog integrated circuits (ICs), today announced its latest photo detector IC, custom-designed to enable low-profile DVD-writable drives. The SP8056 is offered in a small 3.5mm x 4.0mm package, allowing convenient implementation in slim and ultra- slim form factor drives.
A proprietary hologram-laser optimized photo detector array captures light and drives 4 high-speed data detection channels, 2 medium-speed channels, and 2 slow channels. Ten selectable gain settings ensure maximum compatibility with multiple standards of writable media including DVD-RAM. Additionally, the device offers two 130MHz differential data summing outputs and a low-power sleep mode for power conservation in portable applications.
SP8056 Key Features (Typical):
-- 130MHz bandwidth
-- Ten selectable gain settings
-- -- 20ns output settling time
-- 20ns saturation recovery time
-- Differential outputs with 2.7v output swing
-- -- -73dBm output noise
-- 16 pin clear OPLGA packaging, 3.5mm x 4.0mm
Pricing and Availability:
The SP8056 is available now and is priced at $1.80 in 100,000 piece quantities. An evaluation board is also available to assist in the evaluation of the SP8056. Datasheets and additional information on the SP8056 and other Sipex product offerings may be found on the company web site at www.sipex.com.
