Could Sony release a more powerful version of the Playstation 4, capable of handling 4K graphics for games? Kotaku reports hearing about the PlayStation 4 upgrade from game developers. No further information has been provided, but we could assume that the new hardware could cost a bit more than the current PS4.

A 4K PlayStation - referred as PS4.5 - should be armed with more powerful graphics processor than the current PS4 has. Currently, the PS4 supports 4K photos and videos, but gaming is restricted at 1080p.

Microsoft has also suggested that the Xbox One could get hardware upgrades.
