Sony Faces Blu-ray Lawsuit
Target Technology has alleged that Sony's Blu-ray format infringes on patents that Target has held since 2006.
The California-based company designs and supplies corrosion resistant thin film alloys for optical disc applications. Target names Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA), Sony Pictures and Sony DADC US in a suit filled earlier this month, claiming that the silver-based alloy film found in the Blu-ray was invented by the company. Target is seeking a jury trial, damages and a permanent injunction which would stop Sony from allegedly infringing on its patent rights in the future.
