Sony's New Wireless Speakers Available In The U.S.
Sony Electronics has just launched three new wireless speakers, the SRS-X77, SRS-X88 and SRS-X99. Like the company's previous sound bars, all three wireless speakers have Google Cast and Spotify Connect, as well as Multi-room capability via the Song Pal app. The SRS-X88 and SRS-X99 speakers also boast Hi-Res audio capability.
The SRS-X99 boasts 154 Watts and seven speakers: Two super tweeters, two front tweeters, two mid-range drivers and a single subwoofer. The two Super Tweeters extend clarity at the higher frequencies. Two Magnetic Fluid Speaker Mid-Range drivers deliver mids. A Subwoofer and dual passive radiators round out the mix delivering low end. S-Master HX digital amplification circuitry tuned for Hi-Resolution music files, adds wide-frequency audio reproduction.
The SRS-X88 features 90 Watts and five speakers: Two front tweeters, two mid-range drivers and a single subwoofer. Additionally, the SRS-X88 also features S-Master HX™digital amplification circuitry.
The SRS-X77 features vibrant sound, thanks to Sony technologies such as DSEE and S-Master. It packs 40 Watts, a built-in subwoofer and dual passive radiators.
Both the SRS-X88 and SRS-X99 support playback of Hi-Resolution music files including MP3, WMA, AAC, WAV, FLAC, AIFF, ALAC and DSD.
ClearAudio+ improves the quality of audio in all three speakers. Accessed via the SongPal app, ClearAudio+ renders sound with more powerful bass and crisp highs. DSEE-HX, found in the X88 and X99, revitalizes and extends audio frequency response to near hi-resolution, improving the sound of low resolution files. Additionally, Sony's LDAC technology allows for high quality wireless Bluetooth audio streaming from compatible devices. Sony claims that LDAC provides three times the data transmission capability.
All three speakers have Google Cast built-in, giving users the ability to easily stream music apps, online radio stations and podcasts to their speakers. By pushing the cast button on a compatible device (in a Cast compatible app), users can search, browse, play, skip and turn up the volume – all directly from the app. Additionally, since Google Cast streams music directly from the cloud, versus streaming directly from a compatible device, it minimizes battery drain when compared to traditional Bluetooth.
The new multi-room functionality in all three speakers allowsyou to stream music throughout the home. Using the all new SongPal Link functionality, part of the SongPal app, users can tap into their favorite tunes, dynamically configure their listening across multiple wireless speakers, compatible sound bars and A/V receivers, and manage the content.
Embedded Wi-Fi allows for accessing iTunes via Airplay or Spotify content via a Wi-Fi network or accessing music files on a DLNA compatible PC or Home Media Server. Bluetooth and NFC (Near Field Communication) connectivity supports easy setup and streaming.
The SRS-X77 retails for $299.99, the SRS-X88 retails for $399.99 and the SRS-X99 retails for $699.99.
