Swiss Manufacturer Vivastar(R) Unveils Proprietary DVD Recorder for Mass Market at CeBIT 2001

Swiss Manufacturer Vivastar(R) Unveils Proprietary DVD Recorder for Mass Market at CeBIT 2001

Optical Storage Mar 21,2001 0

Vivastar today announced its entry into the DVD Recorder marketplace with the unveiling of the Vivastar DVD Recorder at CeBIT 2001. The in-house designed and manufactured external and internal drive unit, priced below Asian competition and featuring patented materials and original technology, will be marketed in Europe and North America exclusively through retailers giving merchants a highly-dependable offering for the exploding DVD Recorder consumer market.
The Vivastar DVD Recorder, which ships to retailers May 2001, offers features that meet or exceed any unit on the market today. The write-once drive connects to any PC via a SCSI-2 interface, and writes to 4.7 GB DVD-R discs at both 1X and 2X speeds.

Recording standards for the Vivastar DVD Recorder conform to those set by the DVD Forum, a worldwide consortium of DVD manufacturers and technologists.

Vivastar plans to follow the release of its external and internal drive DVD Recorder with a series of related models later this year. The series will include a video/audio model which will connect to TVs, enabling users to time- shift television programs and transfer favorite home videos to the highly- stable DVD format.
