Tesla Applies For an Electricity Provider License in the U.K.: report
Tesla Inc has applied for a licence to supply electricity in the United Kingdom, The Telegraph reported on Saturday.
It is not clear why the EV car maker has applied for the license. The company could need it in order to introduce its Autobidder platform -- a platform for automated energy trading, which is already being operated at Tesla’s Hornsdale Power Reserve in South Australia.
The company did not respond to a request for a comment.
In 2017, the carmaker built world’s largest lithium ion battery to help keep the lights on in South Australia.
