TMPGEnc MPEG Editor Product Release Information

TMPGEnc MPEG Editor Product Release Information

Enterprise & IT Aug 18,2004 0

New Software, TMPGEnc MPEG Editor from Pegasys, will be released in mid-September.

It will be only available by download. TMPGEnc MPEG Editor is, for instance, recommended for people who wish to precisely cut out commercials, and make neat videos from their recorded DVDs.

TMPGEnc MPEG Editor is a greatly improved version of the widely used MPEG Tool (included in TMPGEnc Plus 2.5). It has been reworked into a full-featured software offering fast and easy cut-editing with high precision MPEG Smart Rendering.

The standard MPEG Tool could only cut on GOPs, which meant rough cut-editing. But with TMPGEnc MPEG Editor and its Smart Rendering function, accurate and precise cut-editing becomes possible. The Smart Rendering technology included in TMPGEnc MPEG Editor consists in re-encoding only the necessary parts of the video, and not the whole video, allowing smooth cut-editing. Also, like other new Pegasys softwares, TMPGEnc MPEG Tool is compatible with TMPGEnc Sound Plug-in AC3 (for Dolby Digital 2 ch audio).

  • Supported file formats are: standard MPEG-1 and MPEG-2, DVD-Video files or DVD-VR (.VRO) files recorded with standalone DVD recorder.
  • Main features:

    1. Technical Wizard Interface
Features the same intuitive and popular interface structure as the one used in TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress or TMPGEnc DVD Author.
    2. Smooth cut-editing thanks to Fast Thumbnail View
TMPGEnc DVD Author's cut-editing thumbnail view has been adopted and improved for TMPGEnc MPEG Editor. Smooth cut-editing is possible thanks to the new Thumbnail View's Fast Scrolling.
    3. Includes the long-awaited Smart Rendering function
Because TMPGEnc MPEG Editor includes Smart Rendering function, there is no need to take GOP limitation in account when cut-editing. The work can be done at frame level. Portions of video and audio that have to be re-encoded is held to a minimum, keeping the highest quality possible. Smart Rendering function also makes possible to join seamlessly several files*. Furthermore, TMPGEnc MPEG Editor includes an [Analyze re-encode] function allowing checking of the encoded parts before outputting them.
*Joined files must have identical characteristics.
    4. Supports High Definition MPEG from the Victor GR-HD1, the first consumer HD camcorder
High-Definition video recorded by Victor GR-HD1 camcorder, can also be cut-edited smoothly using fast thumbnail view (File importation from the GR-HD1 requires specific software).
*Transport Stream Output is not supported.
    5. Supports source files from standalone DVD recorder
Includes the same DVD importation function than TMPGEnc 3.0 XPress, allowing edition of DVD-video format or DVD-VR format disc from standalone DVD recorder. Furthermore, multiple formats title such as Advanced VBR unsupported by TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 can be imported and re-encoded only where necessary to unify the format, and then be used in TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6.
    6. Compatible with TMPGEnc Sound Plug-in AC-3
If TMPGEnc Sound Plug-in AC-3 (Dolby Digital audio / 2ch) is already installed on the PC, import and output of Dolby Digital audio / 2ch become possible. This plug-in is necessary to use DVD-Video or other contents which use Dolby Digital audio / 2ch
