For our tests, we used WinXP SP2 Operating System and after plugging in the 11in1 card reader, Windows recognized it as a USB Storage device. Aafter a few seconds, we had four (4) additional storage drives, with different names, where each device represents the corresponding connection port:
Have you noticed anything unusual? The last port is recognized as "XD USB Device", but according to the specs, XD is not supported, or is it....? Unfortunaly, we didn't have an xD memory card handy, but according to some rumours, it is supported 100%, so maybe we should call the 11in1, the 12in1 card reader :-)
The 11in1 card reader, has a led at the top left corner, which blinks orange when a memory card slot is being accessed (reading/writing). After inserting a memory card, the card is recognized instantly and you can access the memory card contents like any normal storage device performing actions such as rename, copy, delete, format, etc. We tried a SanDisk 16MB and TraxData's 1GB SD cards and both worked without any problems with good reading/writing results.
We used FD Tach beta 0.9.0.3 and we checked the performance with the SanDisk 16MB secure digital card
As we can see, the results are very good in terms of reading/writing:
The results with the 1GB SD card were also very good, confirming the drive's USB2.0 connection to the host PC.
- Conclusion
Without any doubt, TraxData's 11in1 (or 12in1) memory card reader is a very good product, low priced, full of features and with very good performance. At a price tag of €18, you can buy a fast memory card reader with USB2.0 connection that supports virtually all memory card formats. Even more, it also supports Linux and MacOS operating systems, making it a versatile and universal computing product.
TraxData's 11in1 reader is highly recommended for all users with digital cameras, and we will certainly keep it connected to our PC since our daily need for transferring photographs is quite high :-)
