The Viltrox AF 50mm F2.0 Air FE mount can be found at the retail price of 229 Euro on the official website. The retail package is small and well-designed, it includes all the needed information at the front about the included product.

The retail box includes Viltrox stickers and if those are tampered with, you know someone has messed up before packaging, so you know what's going on. Inside you will find two cards with QR codes for the online PDF manual.

And also a carrying soft pouch.

The lens itself is very small...it weighs only 205gr and has 65x56.5mm dimensions. The build material is hard plastic with a black matte color, no weather sealing, and a metal mount plate. The build quality is very good for the price point of 220 Euro. There is no in-body stabilization, which is also expected for this price range. When the lens is focusing, the mechanism is internal, which means the lens will not extend and may gather dust inside. Viltrox mentions that their autofocus technology is based upon a stepping motor (STM) with a lead screw, which probably is faster and more accurate than a geared STM motor. The focusing ring can only be used for manual "focus" and cannot be used for other functions. At the bottom mount plate, there is a TypeC connection port for updating firmware (more on this later on).

The top and bottom plastic caps have the Viltrox logo printed. There are no buttons at the lens that can be assigned to functions.

At the bottom, we will find several certifications, the serial number of the product, and the "Made in China" text.
